This new capability enables seamless integration of file types like PDF, PNG, and ZUGFeRD XML, making it easier to meet modern e-invoicing standards across Europe and beyond.
ZUGFeRD (pronounced “tsook-ferd”) is a hybrid e-invoicing format developed in Germany that combines the visual representation of a PDF with structured XML data for automated processing.
This format is widely adopted across the EU, where compliance with legal and enterprise invoicing mandates is increasingly required. Over time, ZUGFeRD has expanded internationally, evolving into the French equivalent, Factur-X, further solidifying its role as a global standard for business communication.
The PDF/A-3 format allows embedding additional file types, such as ZUGFeRD XML invoices, creating hybrid documents that are both human-readable and machine-readable. This makes it an essential tool for:
